Achor Counseling understands the importance of character development and partners with schools to help students make positive life choices. Skills for Success is offered to elementary, middle and high school students to help them evaluate the consequences of their behavior and the impact on their future.
The primary goal of Skills for Success is to promote positive youth development and reduce the chance for youth to engage in behaviors that will put their health and well-being at risk. The program is designed to help prevent alcohol, tobacco and other drug use and reduce fighting, bullying and delinquency. Skills for Success also helps students focus on making positive life choices and avoid engaging in risky behaviors.
The presentations are delivered in 5-10 weekly sessions and targets 2nd-12th grade students. The goal is to empower students with the tools to address the challenges of life, develop confidence, and resist substance use.
These presentations are intended to occur in a classroom, assembly, or community setting. Some of the topics that are covered are: Peer Pressure, Communication, Stress Management, Drug Prevention, Social Media, Problem Solving, Bullying, Self-Worth, Goal Setting, Building Healthy Relationships, and Empathy.
